Guadalupe Credit Union Helps 50 Families During The Holidays
Guadalupe Credit Union (GCU) was able to help fifty (50) families in Northern New Mexico during the holiday season, as part of its 29th annual Christmas Families program.
This staff-driven community event, held by the credit union since 1992, helps to make a difference in the lives of New Mexican families and seniors in Santa Fe, Española, Taos, Mora and Las Vegas. The families selected were referred by community partners and by GCU staff.
Guadalupe Credit Union President/CEO Winona Nava credited the company’s culture and the dedication to service by employees for the Christmas Families program’s continued growth and success. “This giving initiative was based on our employees’ desire to give back in more meaningful ways within the communities they serve. Our culture reflects a passion for helping others, and we are proud to be able to support and improve the lives of our members and our communities.”
Staff raise funds during the year through payroll deductions. Those funds were used to purchase gift cards for daily necessities, as well as toys and clothing for the children. GCU staff, following COVID-safe protocols, delivered the gifts right before Christmas Day. Free financial coaching was offered to all participants to help households recover from the pandemic and plan for the New Year.
Every year I am amazed by our employees’ enthusiasm for Christmas Families,” said Diane Sandoval-Griego, GCU’s Chief of Financial Empowerment. “This year was another challenging year, and our staff showed their caring nature and went above and beyond to help our communities.”
