Leadership Transition at Guadalupe Credit Union: Winona Nava Retires, Tanya Romero-Sturgeon APPOINTED President/CEO

Santa Fe, NM – Guadalupe Credit Union (GCU) announces a significant leadership transition. Winona Nava, a cornerstone of GCU and the broader credit union community, will retire at the end of October. On the same day, Tanya Romero-Sturgeon will step up as the new President/CEO, ensuring a seamless transition at a pivotal time for the credit union.

Winona Nava, President/CEO of GCU, has been honored with various awards throughout her 45-year career in the credit union industry, including the prestigious Herb Wegner Award, making her the first New Mexican to receive this distinction. Under her stewardship, GCU has grown its assets to $263 million and now serves over 27,000 members across Northern New Mexico. Winona’s work in community development and financial empowerment has left an indelible mark on the credit union.

"Although I'm happy to move onto a new chapter in my life, I will miss all of you and GCU’s mission of 'Providing Financial Empowerment in the Communities We Serve'. I reflect with immense pride on the journey we have undertaken together," said Winona Nava.

As she takes the helm, Tanya Romero-Sturgeon is set to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor, Winona Nava. Tanya’s proven leadership skills and unwavering commitment to GCU’s mission make this a seamless transition at a pivotal time for the credit union. With over 21 years of experience at GCU, Tanya is more than prepared to lead the organization into its next phase.
