GUADALUPE CREDIT UNION WELCOMES INTERN FOR SAN MIGUEL COUNTY
Guadalupe Credit Union is pleased to welcome Olivia Marquez as our newest intern. Olivia is a student at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, working to complete her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She was awarded this internship through a partnership with Economic Mobility Corps (EMC).
EMC was created by the CDFI Fund with AmeriCorps and administered through The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). The award was designed to provide an opportunity for interns to gain experience in the Community Development Sector and build local leadership.
Guadalupe Credit Union is excited about our Economic Mobility Corps partnership”, said Diane Sandoval-Griego, GCU’s Chief of Financial Empowerment. “Olivia’s application and interview truly showed her passion and desire to reinvest in her community. We were impressed by her eagerness to make a difference in San Miguel County and look forward to supporting her education and experience in the credit union industry.”
Olivia will be offering financial classes in San Miguel County. Her training over the next year will include financial coaching, as well as online and in-house education related to the credit union industry and community development.
This partnership leverages existing strengths in responding to economic disparities. By using intentional educational programming these long-term community-based organizations will serve the people in their neighborhoods to build better economic fluency for them, their children, and so many more,” said Sonali Nijhawan, Director, AmeriCorps State and National.
